Funding Opportunity: Disability Alliance BC Accessibility Projects Grants 2026/2027

by

BC-based not-for-profit organizations looking to improve accessibility and inclusion in their communities may be eligible for up to $40,000 through Disability Alliance BC’s (DABC) Accessibility Projects Grants.

Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Accessibility Projects Grants, which provide funding for year-long community engagement projects that support lasting change for people with disabilities across British Columbia.

Since the program began in 2018, more than 100 projects have received funding through the program. This year, a total of $450,000 is available to BC-based not-for-profit organizations to receive a grant up to $40,000.

What can the grants support?

Funded projects must focus on community engagement and increasing accessibility for people with disabilities. Projects must address one of the following objectives:

  • Accessible employment
  • Accessible emergency planning and response
  • Accessible arts, culture and tourism
  • Accessible sports and recreation
  • Accessible education and learning
  • Accessible community participation

The grants are intended to support projects that can contribute to lasting accessibility and inclusion. Projects focused primarily on large capital costs, such as accessibility improvements to buildings or outdoor spaces, are not eligible through this funding stream.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants must generally be BC-based not-for-profit organizations that operate primarily for community benefit and provide services that are open to the public.

Organizations do not need to be registered charities, but they must have a democratically elected volunteer Board chosen by their membership. National or international organizations may also be eligible if they have a base of operations in BC and sufficient capacity to deliver services in the province.

Government organizations, including municipalities, First Nations bands and public-sector organizations, are not eligible for this particular funding stream.

There are also additional eligibility requirements, including restrictions related to previous recipients and conflicts of interest. Organizations can only submit one application per year.

Organizations should review the full Call for Proposals carefully before applying.
